This is a very loose version of something the Anglican church calls Compline (I'm new to Anglican world and learning as I go, so don't quote me too closely). It's a time to transition from the busy day into a quieter evening, which has been a challenge for me with all the stuff I have going. Its been a time to meditate on the Psalms that spend so much time talking about God as our protector as we face all the perils of life, asking for God’s peace and shelter in the storm. Or at least that's what it has been doing for me.
If you aren't familiar with The Passion Translation of the Bible, it's free on the You Version Bible app that's available on any device, or read in your browser here.
If you are a paper person like me, Amazon has choices, and the large print has been my favorite.
I requested it because it's rich with amazing imagery that makes Psalms come to life in a different way than other versions that might feel more scholarly, familiar, or harder language to follow.
Pop in and say hello. You're welcome to dial in from a cell or landline, or you can click on the Google Meet link and be able to share video (or not, up to you). Everyone lands in the same place together no matter how you join.
Just in case something happens without warning, if you are the only one on the call by 3 minutes after start time, hang up and we'll catch it the next day.
Readings will be from Psalms in The Passion Translation (TPT) of the Bible, and maybe a liturgy or a quick prayer, depending on the reader for the night.
No discussion, chit chat, or teaching, just listening to the reader and receiving.
That's it...hang up and have a great evening.
Quick and restful and easy.
Usually it's no more than 15 minutes and it's been so beautiful!
